    The New Information Blocking Rule:
    What Providers Need to Know

    Tuesday, May 11th

    12:00pm-1:00pm

    Presented By:
Frances A. Ciardullo, Esq.  Special Counsel, Barclay Damon LLP
Bridget Steele, Esq., Associate, Barclay Damon LLP
Dena DeFazio, Associate, Barclay Damon LLP

In a nod to our increasingly digital world, the 21st Century Cures Act’s Information Blocking Rule became effective on April 5, 2021, impacting a whole host of individuals and entities operating in the health care space.  The Information Blocking Rule applies to “actors,” which includes nearly all types of health care providers, and is far broader than the definition of “covered entities” under HIPAA.  Virtually all medical practices must now comply with the Rule’s requirements.  This 50-minute webinar will address the impact of the rule on New York medical providers, and will give practical guidance for compliance.

    Topics to be addressed include:

    • An overview of the Information Blocking Rule and its requirements;
    • Exceptions to the Rule; and
    • Practical implications and steps which should be taken by health care providers.

(NYMGMA Members Attend Free, Non-members $35.00)

Training Medical Office Staff to Improve Patient Experience and Manage Risk

    Tuesday, June 1

    12:00pm-1:00pm

    Presented By:
Elizabeth Gousse Ballotte - Principal, Grassi Healthcare Advisors

    Webinar Summary:
Front-office staff play a vital role in a medical practice’s reputation and patient experience. Even so, most training programs focus primarily on the operational and procedural requirements of their positions. Little attention is paid to how these team members can advance the practice’s patient satisfaction and business development goals. This session will outline the elements of a training program that addresses these key objectives and teaches administrative staff the principles of effective patient communication and management. The presentation will also cover the specific interpersonal skills to look for in new hires and how to cultivate those skills in current staff members.
